Work Bugs

...many people, but I'm happy to be employed. On that note, here are some local bugs and nice plantings at my workplace.

                                                                  Pretty wings.

Ironically this duo is on a lunch table.

The worms here come very highly recommended.

Gorgeous little butterfly, Eastern-Tailed Blue.

Nice lush planter near the doorway.

They are very enlightened with their use of wildflowers...

...grasses and Joe-pye weed...

...seem to be keeping the pollinators and beetles happy.

Pretty seed heads add "lace" to the landscaping...

...on the grasses too.

I'd love to see all businesses switch to these kinds of natural plantings! They're water-wise, very low maintenance, and provide important habitat for many beneficial insects including pollinators. Not to mention the psychological benefits for this gardener in particular (very thoughtful of them to plant a "happy place" for me right at work :)

That's a really great shot of the dragonfly! All the pics are fantastic! You really do have a great outdoor space at your workplace. There are several companies in our area that have gone to wildscapes. I hope it's a trend that catches on and continues. It saves them big bucks in the longrun. It's good for the environment and it gives the critters in cities a safe haven. What could be more perfect?
